What’s Minibikers Balanceability?
Balanceability is the UK's first afPE approved and accredited 'learn to cycle' programme for children 18 months to 10 years. Minibikers Balanceability comprises of fun activities that build confidence, focusing on gross motor skills, spatial awareness and dynamic balance skills, enabling young children to cycle without ever needing stabilisers.
What age group?
18 months to 10 years old. We have three levels for you select. Please see our courses guide outlined in the journey.
Do I have to pay a joining fee?
No joining fee is required only the course fee for the 5 weeks.
Unsure which Level is suitable for my child?
If your child has been using his/her balance bike for some time now and confident then Level 2. Level one is for beginners encouraging confidence in using a balance bike, before they move on to pedal bikes. If you are totally unsure, then we can assess your child before you enrol.
My child is already using a bike with stabilisers, can they still join?
Yes they can join, however the emphasis will be on teaching children how to ride their pedal bike, without the use of the stabilisers. We encourage children not to use stabilisers.
Do you support children with SEND?
Yes we support children with SEND needs and our Instructors are trained and qualified to teach.
Do parents have to stay for the sessions?
Yes, because of the age of the children. Also we encourage parents to participate and support where they can with their children. Learning to ride a bike is a big step in a child’s life and it’s a great opportunity to be part of their progress and development, in a group setting.
We don’t have a balance bike?
Balance bikes are provided.
Can my child bring their own balance bike?
Yes, but you need to ensure that the balance bike has one working brake and we still need to check the bike before each session, for health and safety reasons.
My child has just learnt to ride their pedal bike, can we still join?
Yes. The Level two course assists children to improve their skills base, knowledge and confidence in becoming a competent bike rider in a group based setting.
Do I need to bring my own pedal bike for the Level 2 class?
Yes we encourage this but if you do not have a bike we can assist with this.
Where can we buy the bikes used in the training sessions?
